Visuospatial intelligence (Gv )
Visual-spatial intelligence (Gv) involves the ability to visualize, remember and manipulate images in the mind’s eye. It is the ability to think in terms of spatial dimensions and geometry. This kind of intelligence is measured by tasks that require imagining spatial objects as they change or move through space. It is an important factor of intelligence for general intelligence in as far as much reasoning depends on understanding information in terms of ‘cognitive maps’ that are spatially organised in some way. For instance, to infer from A>B and B>C that A>C benefits from conceptualizing the premises in spatial terms.
In addition, visuospatial imagination can help with memory, by associating items you need to remember with different locations in a journey you take in your ‘minds eye’.
You can train visuospatial intelligence any time you get the opportunity to visualize the spatial layout of somewhere you have been. You can practice visualization as a kind of ‘meditation’.
